I’m Alive!
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on June 23, 2010

During the last couple of weeks I have been a lot like the quintessential disheveled scientist locked up in her lab, feverishly inventing and discovering new things. Now that I have emerged from that stint, I am pondering which of these discoveries are coming along with me.
It is safe to say that these are but a few of them:
- The pathway to effortless singing is full of technical contradictions (i.e. the less you think the better, the height in your sound calls for an anchor in your breath support, often times the less calculated the more captivating, big volume is more likely achieved in the letting go than in the pushing out, etc.) Wouldn’t you agree?
- Great music videos require so much more than abstract objectives and good intentions – for a time, I assumed my music video would make a life of its own if I pumped it with enough creative ideas, but the logistics necessary to pull it off are astounding. SO…
- The music video is going to ROCK now that my team and I are fully aware of that fact : )
- Beware of over promising to yourself and beware of those who over promise to you.
- Never let yourself believe that you’ve already given your very best or that there’s no hope for a better you. You CAN find more songs within yourself – better songs even. I really believe that we can all change for the better!
- The study of performance psychology is deep, fascinating, and complex, but when well understood, can wield the most rewarding performance experiences.
- The Weepies’ “Can’t Go Back Now,” Darwin Deez’s “Radar Detector”, Boys II Men harmonies in general and Nacho Libre quotes are all pretty nice things to have stuck in your head during long meetings.
- Beware! When overwhelmed, little day-to-day things can easily disguise themselves as unrealistically difficult tasks. Just get them done!
- Maybe they’re right, maybe laughter really IS the best medicine….or was it crying in the car screaming the lyrics to old Carpenters’ songs?
- Splashing around on slip n’ slides and eating popsicles on hot driveways are definitely among my top 7 favorite summer activities : ) (right there next to singing Bread around the campfire, jumping on wet trampolines, making home-movies, selling lemonade, and barbecuing)
Well, I am off to rehearsal! Have a wonderful day today everyone, and don’t forget to leave a comment. We love to hear from you!
Any cover song requests by the way?
With love,
